WHAT IS HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN

Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders are bite-sized pieces of juicy chicken coated in a crispy layer of cornflour and bathed in a glossy honey garlic sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner or as a star dish for parties, these tenders are sure to become a staple in your kitchen!

INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED

  • Chicken tenders: The foundation of this dish lies in good-quality chicken tenders or mini chicken breasts. Their tenderness makes for a quick cooking time, ensuring a juicy outcome.
  • Salt, pepper and cornflour: The secret to that perfect crunch is coating the chicken in cornflour. This creates a light, crispy layer that enhances the overall texture.
  • Honey garlic sauce: A blend of honey, water, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and fresh ginger (or ground ginger) forms the heart of this dish. Choose high-quality honey for a rich sweetness, and don’t skip the garlic – it’s what gives the dish its signature kick.

STORING AND FREEZING TIPS

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For longer storage, consider freezing. Flash-freeze the tenders on a baking sheet before transferring them to a freezer bag. When you’re ready for a quick and delicious meal, just reheat in the oven for that freshly cooked taste.

TOP TIPS

  • Quality ingredients: Invest in high-quality honey, soy sauce, and fresh garlic. The better the ingredients, the richer the flavour.
  • Even coating: Ensure each chicken tender is evenly coated in cornflour for a consistent crunch.
  • Don’t overcook: Keep an eye on the chicken tenders while frying to achieve that perfect golden brown without overcooking.
  • Thicken the sauce: If your sauce isn’t reaching the desired thickness, give it a bit more time on the heat. It should be very glossy and sticky.

FAQ

Can I use chicken breasts instead of tenders?

Absolutely! Adjust cooking times accordingly to ensure the chicken breasts are thoroughly cooked.

Can I make the sauce in advance?
